Mississippi Native Writes

PublishAmerica Presents: 'Love for Kenya' by Aretha Renia
by Special to the Chickasaw Journal01.30.09 - 11:35 am
Frederick, MS - PublishAmerica is proud to present Love for Kenya by Aretha Renia of Houston, Mississippi.

Kenya Marcus owns the best retailer of plus-size clothing in Hilltop, Mississippi and its surrounding counties. She has a wonderful staff and a great apartment. The one thing that she does not have is love. She has spent her entire life believing that she was not worthy to be loved until her grandmother's dying gift gave her the chance for a new start.

Daniel Robinson left Hilltop right after high school. He has been gone for twenty years, but now he's back. He has returned to be closer to his mother, but when he gets there he finds more than he bargained for. He and Kenya form a friendship that turns out to be something wonderful and special. His heart opens to her sweet nature, and he finds himself wanting more.

Will Daniel be able to put his insecurities to rest and face a few fears of his own to express his Love for Kenya?

Aretha Renia is a thirty-three year old native Mississippian with four children. Writing has been her passion since she was a small child. This is her first published book, and she hopes to have a long future in weaving tales of love that feature unlikely heroes and heroines.

PublishAmerica is the home of 30,000 talented authors. Author Glenda Davis, Glenda Davis

Small town girl Glenda Davis publishes her first book with aspirations of more books to come.

Being raised in a small town, the author Glenda Davis had an idyllic life.

“The small town thing is me.” Davis said.

But with the publication of her first novel, Force Recon: Eagle by Publish America on May 25, 2009, she’s found herself in a bit of the spotlight.

Small Town Girl

Davis teaches algebra to students in the 9th through 12th grades. Since the publication of her novel, she’s found herself as the inspiration for some of her female students who want to be writers themselves.

“It is very exciting for them,” Davis said, “It is a huge thing in a small town to be published.”

Interview with Glenda

Artist on the rise: Glenda Lee Davis

Author: Glenda Lee Davis

  • Age: 35

  • Address: Lumberton

  • Occupation: Teacher

  • Publisher: PublishAmerica

  • Who is your favorite author? I don't have one favorite author because I have a wide variety of literary interest. My favorites to name a few are Dee Henderson, Stephen King, John Grisham, B.J. Myers and Karen Kingsbury.

  • For new fans, is there any author that you would compare your style to? I believe my writing style is a cross between Dee Henderson and Karen Kingsbury.

  • How long have you been writing? I have been writing for 20 years, but this is the first publishing experience I have pursued.

  • How many books do you have published? One. "Force Recon: Eagle."

  • When did you discover your love for writing? I realized that I had a desire to share my vivid imagination with others at the age of 15.

  • Tell me what is your latest title, and what is it about? The best way that I can describe my book is by quoting what one of my fellow authors wrote in a review of "Force Recon: Eagle:"

'Action, adventure and a timeless romance are all rolled up into one very well written book. Glenda Davis takes her reader on an exciting adventure that not only offers the excitement of any Special Forces movie but also the heart tugging romance that dreams are made of. This is a book that anyone will get hooked on, and a great one for military families. It shows the side of the military that we often forget, how hard it is for soldiers to leave their loved ones behind. I definitely recommend this exciting and well written book for anyone.' "

5 stars. BJ Myers, author of "Justice is Served" and "Justice Never Sleeps."

  • Why should readers buy your book? Again the best answer to this question comes in the form of another review of "Force Recon: Eagle:"

'I was not sure what to expect when I read Force Recon: Eagle, by Glenda Davis. I admit to thinking it would be a war story, and was pleasantly surprised to read a tender love story. I enjoyed the characters, and the conversations that they had were both fun and realistic. The story is demonstrative of how we can be if we follow the good qualities inside us.' "

Stacey Nelson, author of "Hallowed Moon."

  • Where can people find your book - in stores and online? The official release date is July 25. However, it is available for order through PublishAmerica now. http://www.publishamerica.com/, http://www.barnesandnoble.com/, http://www.powells.com/ and www. glendadavis.com.
